FOUR MINUTES TO SAVE A LIFE:

Supermarket delivery driver Charlie enjoys new job

By Anna Stuart

But will his helping hand make everything worse? because he doesn’t have to spend too long with people, he’s found, are nothing but trouble.

The Book:

When he was allocated the Hope Row street, he appreciates that there are lot’s of lonely people out there, and for some, he’s their only interface.

Charlie was told by his boss at the supermarket to remember he’s a driver, not a social worker  but Charlie’s hard exterior began to soften, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t help showing sympathy to the Hope Row residents, helping them find their place in the world where they feel comfortable again.

More and more people than ever these day’s get home deliveries on a weekly basis and for many of them I’m sure that those few minutes they spend in discussion with the driver improves their day.

For a lot of the customers, the delivery driver might be the only individual they see to talk to all that week. This is a story of a delivery driver named Charlie, who does deliveries for Turner’s Supermarket, and about some of the stories of some of the people he delivers to.

The Book Reviewed:

It’s clear from the opening pages that some disturbing event in Charlie’s past has massively affected him. He is clearly a thoughtful person, even though his parents and siblings have ridiculed him for this.

He cannot just turn off his caring nature, even when doing what he himself would call a dull job as a supermarket delivery driver. A delivery drivers target for the day is to complete every delivery in just a few minutes.

Three customers in particular get right under his skin but there circumstances touch him. Their’s Vik who’s a widower and likes to cook every week for his son and family and who ever else come’s round. Ruth drinks a lot, infact she’s a alcoholic who has suffered a enormous loss.

Greg suffered dreadful wounds but through his travel blog became well known and is thought of as inspiring, but even so he does not look at it that way.

Over five weeks, Charlie gets to know these lonely people who are all grief-stricken in different ways. Charlie’s kind nature comes to the forefront and the ripple effect of his kind actions are there for us to see.

I won’t say much more about this beautifully written, sensitive story because it is something that you should really learn for yourself. It’s about being nice to yourself as well as to others and how the slightest of kindnesses can make the biggest differences to all those involved.

It breaks  my heart again and again. I absolutely admire all the characters loved the book from the first page to the last page. if you really want a uplifting read you should get yourself a copy and start reading it today.

Four Minutes to Save a Life is a must read for anybody who has a heart.
